Everyone says to DYOR, but can you share how do you DYOR?

We hear it all too often in this sub, you should Do Your Own Research, but how do you go about it? It is certainly not a trivial task to do and everyone seem to have a different approach to it.

Share with us which websites do you use in your research journey, which metrics do you check and why do you consider these metrics important?

I think I speak for the whole subreddit when I say that we would very much appreciate the longer and more involved answers than the shallow, one-sentence answers.
