I’ve spent an obscene amount of time since the Pandemic exploring and learning about cryptocurrency. I’ve gotten burned a few times, panic sold the bottom, and loaded my bags up at the top. My wife thinks I’m crazy.
Like a lot of you (I’m sure), I started here, thinking I’d be rich in a few months with little to no effort. I thought I could just buy whatever coin was cheapest – regardless of market cap – and just HODL until the moon. I was so naive, and the market schooled me to this fact.
A little over 2 years later, the volatility is nothing. I welcome the dips for the discounts that they appear to be. I stick to my DCA and rarely buy anything that wasn’t already planned out. I’m not shook when prices correct 20% to the downside, nor do I panic when the latest FUD in the media tries to convince the sleeping masses that “Bitcoin is dead.”
What I’m getting at is that it’s been a journey, and I know I’m just now really getting started. My time horizon is much higher, and I’m thinking in years instead of days or weeks. While I owe my personal experiences in this market for the vast majority of my growth, I attribute a lot of my initial knowledge to this community. It was here I learned what the hell a DCA was, the meaning of a market cap, and how to invest responsively.
Thanks /r/cryptocurrency! We’re an emotional bunch, who loves to argue, but that’s part of what makes it such a beautiful group of “degens.”
