Came for the money, stayed for the tech.

I’ve been seeing many posts lately titled things like “i’m just here for the money” or “we’re all just trying to get rich” as if we should respect their honesty and praise them for saying what we’re all thinking and i’m getting tired of it.

Like most I was drawn to crypto primarily for its financial potential but quickly fell down the rabbit hole of a nascent technology being created in real time. Don’t get me wrong money solves many problems and financial independence is a goal for most but this place should be about more than that. We are at the forefront of a new industry that could change the entire world and 9 out of 10 posts I see are talking about what color lambo they will get ( I appreciate the lambo humor but I think you get my point) .

When’s the last time you read the white paper to your favorite project and how does it compare with things that are actually being implemented? Has anyone here used crypto to send remittances to their families in another country, how does that process differ to what was previously used? Heck I couldn’t sleep last night because I was reading Vitalik’s most recent paper about “Confronting the Carbon-Footprint Challenge of Blockchain“. This guy has an Albert Einstein level IQ and happily gives all this information free to the world, don’t take it for granted.

EDIT: Welp after reading through many comments it appears very few here actually care about the tech so instead of arguing with 50 people simultaneously that don’t actually want to hear it, i’m willing to concede and admit that maybe i’m in the wrong place disappointingly. I’ll take my efforts over the r/ethereum or r/CryptoTechnology. You win.
