So, I am not sure how many of you here are actually aware of the /r/millionairemakers subreddit and how it works. But basically, the idea behind the subreddit is that if there is a single winner and everybody else in the subreddit sends them a single dollar this money can pile up real quick and change somebody’s life.
Sounds too good to be true right? And by having a quick glance at the table of past winners you would probably find what you would expect, in some cases still a pretty nice sum of money, but nowhere near the million from the subreddit name…
Well, there is a catch. A lot of these winners accepted donations in various cryptocurrencies, most notably BTC, LTC, and DOGE… but that was 8 years ago. Now you might see where this is going.
I do not want to dox anyone who didn’t already take security precautions so I will only make a single example (with a now cleared reddit account of all post history) – u/grendelwasamommasboy who, in a now-deleted winner thread received more than $11K by various means. But the crazy thing is, this madman actually held their coins for close to 7 years and almost perfectly timed the top of the last bullrun cashing out multiple bitcoins AND one and a half million doge coins.
This might as well be the first official millionaire made by /r/millionairemakers.
