I see comments saying “bye ledger, ordered myself a new hw”.
Don’t you get it? These hardware wallets are not what we thought they were. It has nothing to do with their new feature.
By announcing that they can offer a service to recover (extract) our seed phrase, they unveiled the fact that a simple change in the code can give access to your private keys. If your wallet is connected (even with Bluetooth) to a device with internet, it can be hacked.
“Yes but my wallets code is open source”. You think hackers care about your code. If it’s accessible, there will always be a way to extract it.
If a man can build a wall, another man can build a ladder to cross it. No wallet is safe. Let’s wait and see how things unfold.
