Ledger finally caved to users complaints and have decided to delay the release of Ledger recover. They have also announced the will be accelerating their open-source roadmap to try and appease the customers who are changing hardware wallets and leaving Ledger.
Tweet from Ledger CTO
Ledger Open-source Roadmap
The CEO of Ledger also released a letter explaining the new path the company has decided to take.
we have made the decision to accelerate the open sourcing roadmap! We will include as much of the Ledger operating system as possible, starting with core components of the OS, and Ledger Recover, which won’t be released until this work is complete. Furthermore, we will open source the Ledger Recover protocol, enabling the community to have as much choice as possible over your self-custody,in addition to the service being fully optional.
The CEO has gotten a bit of backlash since he is still blaming the customers for not understanding the service instead of realizing that the majority of their current customers don’t want this service.
our unintentional communication mistake took everyone by surprise and affected our customer’s ability to accurately understand Ledger Recover
Is this enough to keep current Ledger customers happy, or have they now lost the trust they had which can’t be recovered easily?
