In today’s digital age, celebrities have emerged as powerful figures who shape trends, promote products, and influence the opinions and behaviors of millions of followers. While many celebs use their platforms responsibly and ethically, there is a darker side to this world. Its not uncommon to see celebrities use the power and fame they have to milk their audience for money. Celebrities have stolen over $100M from their fans through crypto. Let’s dive into what some of them did.
Lana Rhoades: Adult film star Lana Rhoades launched a NFT project named CryptoSis where she promised utilities which were never delivered upon.
Jake Paul: This youtuber has been notorius for promoting and shilling various scams which have netted him over $2.2M till now.
His scams include Apes in Space, Animoon, Safe Moon, MILF token, etc.
Logan Paul: Brother of Jake Paul, a youtuber famous amongst 12 year olds, is also notorious for pumping out scams.
This was the art used in CryptoZoo. Badly edited Adobe photos.
He also promoted a memcoin called Dink Doink, which did huge numbers to the downside.
Adin Ross: Another youtuber that promoted MILF token and later admitted it was a scam unashamedly.
Tekashi69: This famous rapper partnered up with a project called Trollz and later abandoned it making it go to zero.
Later the rapper made an NFT collection Gine which was rugged.
Kim Kardashian: The famous social media personality promoted a token called Ethereum Max totally unrelated to Ethereum.
Floyd Mayweather: The famous boxer is also a serios rug promoter and has shilled a bunch of scams namely Ethereum Max, Bored Bunny.
He claimed that “you will never lose” but his followers lost a good chunk of money and made him over $5M.
Lindsay Lohan: The famous actress promoted a project called Canine Cartel which later deleted all it’s socials making the project go to 0.
Lil Uzi Vert: The well known rapper launched a project called Eternal Beings which was later abandoned and all promotions stopped leading it to go to 0.
John Wall: The famous basketball player launched an NFT collection Baby Ballers just 7 days after admitting to not knowing what an NFT was.
The above mentioned are just a few of the hundreds of cases of celebrities and influencers using their power and fame to explloit their naive audience. Crypto is just a new medium for them to scam their fans and fill their pockets. I’d suggest all the readers of this post to stay vigilant and not buy into any crypto project promoted by an influencer.
Have you ever fallen victim to a scam promoted by a celebrity or an influencer? I’d love to read about your experience or any insights you have.
