Been in since 2017, so I’ve had a few. I remember my first ETH buy, bought a whole coin (~$300 at the time, was a poor guy just out of grad school). Within a week or 2 I was up $75 and felt like a genius. Eventually head about vertcoin, asic resistant coins were so hot back then. Moved all my eth in around $0.35 I think? Then the bull run really hit. Before I knew it, I was up to a point where I hadd more in crypto than my bank account.
Then the greed really kicked in. Of course every bit of free time was being spent checking charts and looking for the next big project. That’s when I came across COSS.
COSS was an exchange that had a native COSS token that paid back 50% of trading fees back to it’s users, so you’d get dust from a bunch of different coins. Was kind of like investing in a bunch of shit coins at the same time, with the hope one or two went 1000x, all while the actual coin price was going up. Kucoin did/does something similar with their KCS tokens, so I initially split between the 2 of them.
Bull run doing as bull runs do, everything went great. At its peak, I was up to something like 10k (after putting in a total of $1200 fiat) and felt like I couldn’t lose. Rumor hit that kucoin planned to decrease rewards over time, and their office was just an empty space or something, so of course I moved EVERYTHING over to COSS, cuz why not? Ignoring all the rumors of the COSS CEO being a serial scammer and the janky exchange going down all the time, of course. All I could see was the potential.
Then it happened. Around mid December, the market started to fall. January was blood in the streets. I kept telling myself that it would go back up, I’d be good. Then communication from COSS all but stopped. The exchange stopped working. They sold or transferred ownership. And before long, everything was gone.
My then fiance was the only silver lining, as she was a bit upset when I broke the news I had invested in crypto. She convinced me to take out what I put in. So in the end, I broke even, but could have been up almost 9k when I was at my poorest.
I was over invested and got greedy. Probably similar to the rest of you degenerates. So what’s your story?
Tldr: won during a bull run, got greedy, went all in on a scammy project, bear hit, and lost it all
