One of the biggest hurdles with CBDCs will be getting people to accept the thought of it being in the own good to enter a new financial era, where the government has full insight and control over your personal finances.
Projects like WorldCoin is quickly eroding that barrier on behalf of the government. Thinking that you’re giving your personal identifiers and permanently attaching your identity to the internet and your finances, might sound like a cool futuristic thing, when it’s coming from someone like Sam Altman, especially when you get a little DCA money on top.
But mentally we’re preparing ourselves for a situation like in China, where you pay by letting businesses scan your face, and all the dystopian stuff that comes with that.
If my suspicion is correct, the government will come in with CBDCs tied to your eyes, face or other easily trackable features, and that barrier will already be partly normalized due to dipshits like Sam Altman. It’s going to be easy for them to argue: “people already do this privately, now were just bringing it into law to protect consumers identity” or some shit.
I strongly urge everyone not interested in ending up with a system similar to China’s to never use any personal identifiers to tie in your identity to the internet, and urge others never do to it either. We’re slowly eroding the mental barrier to a social credit system.
One of the reasons why eye or face scanning will be a terrible outcome, is that we’re constantly facing cameras. Our laptops and mobile phones have cameras fixed at our eyes and faces, and while they may have our fingerprints, our faces and eyes are way more easily surveilled used tracking identifiers.
I recommend everyone to look up at your phone’s camera and think about that would entail.
