Since 2021 bull run more and more big companies have been announcing that they’ll start accepting crypto as a payment method, most recent being Uber hopping onto this train.
But if you choose to pay with crypto, you are most likely gonna get shafted by worse conversion/quotes for crypto prices than the actual market price at the time of transaction.
Almost all exchanges already do this. Almost all exchanges have a simple beginner friendly UI/App & a more pro UI/App. If you use the beginner friendly UI/App, they give you worse quotes. Like if the market price of BTC is 29500$, & they’ll give a quote of 29700$ on the beginner friendly UI/App, and on top of that charge you with exchange fees.
Uber, starbucks & all these companies are gonna do the same. Let’s say your uber ride is $20, which is 0.00067 BTC, they’ll charge you 0.00074 BTC when you select crypto as payment method, essentially getting shafted for 1-5$ every time you pay with crypto.
