I have seen a lot of hacks and phishing posts on this sub recently. It’s important to know the risks and protect yourself. Here is what you can do to minimize the chance of getting hacked or phished.
Use a cold/hardware wallet. A hardware wallet is an encrypted physical device that keeps your coins safe. It’s designed to remove the online connection to your coins. It’s one of the safest ways to store your crypto.
Store your private key offline. Your private key is the key to all of your coins in your wallet. Always store it offline, preferably on a hardware wallet or on a piece of paper locked in a safe. This way, you’ll protect it from potential online threats like hacking or phishing.
Avoid connecting your wallet to websites or dapps. Stay away from websites that look fishy or unverified. Try to stay away from connection to websites in general, and if you have to, Use trusted platforms and double-check website URLs before entering any sensitive information or connecting your wallet.
Don’t click on links in DMs Received a DM with a link promising amazing crypto deals? Or a link to a new platform? Don’t take the bait! Scammers are constantly lurking in the Reddit subs and other places, hoping to exploit unsuspecting victims. Be cautious!
Use 2-factor authentication (2FA) If you use a CEX, hot wallet or any important platform, don’t forget to set up 2FA. It’s easy to turn on and when you use it, you need not only a password but also a special code from your phone to get into your account. This makes it harder for anyone to acces your accounts, even if they know your password.
Crypto is exciting, but storing it can be risky. I hope this helps some of you guys to keep your coins safe! If you want to add anything to this list I’d love to see some good advice in the comments.
