I’ve been a crypto enthusiast for quite some time, for a long time I couldn’t convince my best friend about it at all to hardly and if we did, we made investments like “buy high, sell low”. A few weeks ago we decided to invest a larger sum in crypto as we think the current prices are good buying opportunities. Since our capital reserves are limited, we borrowed. I borrowed about 35,000 USD and my buddy borrowed about 45,000 USD from bank.
The unsecured loans cost us about 4-5% p.a., and the new loan-rates replace our previous savings in crypto and ETFs/stocks, keeping monthly expenses the same. My friend is even considering, should bitcoin correct even more significantly, liquidating his ETF-/Stock account worth about $15,000 and investing in BTC.
We have invested relatively conservatively: 75% in Bitcoin and 25% in Ethereum. My friend still holds a small amount of Solana on top and from previous investments he still has $7k in Shiba Inu. We just bought a few weeks ago, so our BTC price is around 19-20k.
We live in Germany, if you hold cryptos here for at least 1 year, you don’t pay taxes. We are both convinced that in less than 5 years this calculation will work out and that a DCA in this period would lead to a worse purchase price. We see the current prices as a unique opportunity.
