I watched “The Power of the Heart” documentary. It was a great reminder of a different perspective and how thankful and open we can be towards ourselves and others. Seriously. If you have a spare moment, take the time and listen to the stories. It’s a good way of explaining some science and psychological ideas behind the heart/head connection as well as giving some great stories to make you realize how good you might have it in your life. At least I did. It’s also a great way to think about how to deal with those situations in modern day society that we deal with daily and how to take a step back within those stressful moments.

It made me realize that whether or not it’s been something that we know-subversive in evil terms or not, etc-that modern day technology and society encourage that perspective that your voice matters. Tik-tok, Instagram, facebook and more actively encourage you to share and live in your perspective, and in that instance itself, you can get caught up and it can prevent you from hearing others. And that definitely prevents you from losing and having that compassion towards others. We continuously live in that bubble of attention, preventing any self-awareness from escaping. It’s an unhealthy relationship, and one that we covet because of that dopamine reaction. Or we specifically seek out events that are angry and emotionally damaging-like the recent facebook leaks explain, to hang on to that divisive nature that continues to bring us back for more negative feedback.

I know I did. I felt incredibly disillusioned a year ago from everything that continued to happen-the lack of support, planning, social media and more. I woke up just to read the news and stew more about it and continued to feed into the negative feedback loop. I had to delete the social media apps off my phone in order to take that step to reduce that anxiety and constant need to feed on them. Even now, after I’ve brought them back to my phone I still find myself spending more time than I should on those apps.

Take a moment to breathe. It’s been a crazy past few years, and I think we can all use a perspective change-of mind, of heart, of soul and more. Hop off the phone, the computer, and tv and take a moment to enjoy the outside, think of that perspective that allows you to connect more to your inner self and soul and take that in more. We can all become better people with better tools to allow ourselves to become whole again.
