So, in case anyone wants to know, and this is out there, my Iroquois name is Hadwahnos. I’m using this post as an excuse to show off a cool turtle logo I made for a football fantasy league. Anyways, it’s pronounced Had-wah-nos, and ongweowehka (in Seneca/Onondowaga) it means “Changing Voice”. Which I always thought was an interesting choice for me. I didn’t pick it, obviously, but I always thought it was nifty to have something unique like that.
I ALSO heard a story about my grandfather, whom I never met, so I can’t ask him, but was a Native American performer. He chose a performing name of “Chief Greywolf” which makes me curious, but I’m Turtle clan anyway. I asked one of my uncles about it and he said that my grandfather probably pulled it out of a hat. Nevertheless, that nickname isn’t bad either, although I have a tough time thinking of which animal I prefer. My cousin in a wolf so it probably fits him better.
