It SEEMS like they have enough space to hold all your cute cat videos. But they most likely don’t.

This is an interesting article about streaming and monetization. We do a lot with new products and technologies here, advancing with the times or on the cutting edge is incredibly important. Heck, we were live streaming events back in 2006, with a cellphone as a modem and flash technology.
Live streaming is important for the future, but the point of the delivery network and content is also going to be incredibly important. Video storage space fills up a lot of content, and most people don’t realize what that storage space entails when streaming. A lot of people simply think that it goes into the “cloud”, which it does, but they don’t think about who’s paying for that “cloud” space or the fact that storing that video and everything else entailed with streaming. Plenty of platforms offer the space-youtube, facebook, twitch, but they also make plenty of money off of the content they store and offer for viewing to their respective communities. Producing everything for a CDN on your own is incredibly expensive, especially for scale, as the executive mentions.
I’m not sure of the best solution to this problem, as internet speeds will get faster, storage will get larger, and people will have the ability to download more and more everyday. I personally think the happy medium for right now is the ability to merge all these technologies into simpler and easier devices and outdo the bottom line to reach the profit you’re looking for. It doesn’t take 4 cameramen anymore when you can have PTZ systems. It doesn’t have to be your own CDN if twitch works. And with those costs cut, you can focus on what really matters, which is the content. Again, lower quality content with high production will affect the costs much more than higher quality content with lower production, as more people want to watch what’s important, or something that’s a better idea than a dumb idea. And offering the best content you can make for the lower costs allows the project to get off the ground without worrying about a bigger budget. You can operate with less sponsorship-or less sponsorship money overall and still get the idea and content out and available at a premium price.
As the future continues to develop, we’re only going to see more technology devoted to this niche, it’s become incredibly important as the pandemic has raged on as well. Expect to see this part of the future grow and exceed some imaginations, that’s for sure.
