Brand Assets

If you’re a small business, and let’s face it- if you’re reading this you probably are, you should consider organizing your brand assets. What does that mean? Well, let’s explore.

Brand assets are typically things like your logo, advertising on your car, your website, and pretty much anywhere you do business. People like seeing conformity when it comes to a business as it signifies professionalism and pride in your business. Showing up with stamps on your van circa 1970 indicates that you may not take yourself seriously, so why would your customers?

That’s why it’s important to keep your assets handy, similar to the workflow idea I wrote about earlier. If you work with multiple industries-a web designer, a tv company that makes your commercial or even an independent videographer, a radio company for jingles, you’ll want to keep these assets handy so that you can pass them in between. Sometimes companies can work together, but other times they just ask you for the logos. And you don’t want to have to have them call the video guy who may or may not have gone out of business and wiped all those digital assets as well. So keep the organized and handy when you’re ready to being the advertising process so that you can hand them off to the right people. Keeping the same logo on your commercial as you do in print advertisements-again makes you look incredibly professional, even if the logo is a simple one. This helps establish the brand identity and you can see this working for big companies everyday.

How many jingles do you know? How many colors/logos can you recognize out of just purely seeing them. That brand recognition is incredibly important to companies and large ones sometimes advertise just purely to keep their name or brand in the forefront. Because most times, when you’re thinking of a choice, you reach for the familiar, the comfort, or the one that you think of off the top of your head. IT’s also why people don’t really search past the front page of google. Why bother? When the first one is typically the best one, it’s just about keeping it in front of people. So think like a bigger company, and keep your assets available and consistent across media to ensure that your company is seen as important.
