As a media guy or just as a business. You might have seen the other article on whether or not you should hire a media guy. You should hire PM Studios! But if you don’t, then you should consider using some of these services that we use or recommend to help make your life easier. If you’re a media guy, these are also things that help make your life easier as well, and saving time saves money, blah blah blah.
The first one is fiverr. Fiverr is a great service that can do just about anything. People that specialize in subservices advertise on fiverr for cheaper prices. It’s more than five bucks for most services now, but typically you spend a lot less than you would on a local service. Caveat Emptor-there are plenty of services on there and some are NOT worth the price, or you’d find yourself spending much more on redoing what you originally wanted. You don’t get refunds really, so choose wisely. It’s full of talented people, but don’t underestimate what you think you need to spend. Good work costs a good amount, and you want to make sure you get good work. I like to use fiverr for voice overs as part of my work. You can get a great deal on talent for a quick commercial, so it keeps the budget down and you get a great sounding vo. www.fiverr.com
The next one is Placeit. Or Envato Elements. Either one is a great monthly service that’s full of good templates, logos, ideas and more. If you need a good package, these services can do it, and make your campaign coherent and looking slick without you spending an entire week on a look. You will need to be fluent in the programs that people use if you get in depth with envato elements, but again, these are absolutely time savers when it comes to getting a great look. Placeit even offers templates for shirts, products and placement so you can see what your design looks like on people as well as publishing it. Creating logos and quick looks couldn’t be easier. www.placeit.com
Envato also offers the VideoHive/CodeCanyon/AudioJungle sites, which are bigger resources. This is for the media boys-you’ll need photoshop, after effects and more, and be fluent in how they work in order to edit the templates that are offered. BUT they look great, they’re polished and they are time savers or you when you need a look that is needed now and doesn’t allow you 2 weeks to build the media components for it. Again, you’ll need to be fluent in media programs besides just opening them up, and these templates begin to get pricey for the job if you want to use them on larger scales. You can also find stock footage here, which is great for keeping it all in the bag. AND web templates and code snippets. If you use wordpress as your website engine, and you should, then you’ll find great templates and great plugins that offer a lot of value on here. www.videohive.com
TurboSquid offers great 3d models for sale. What would I need those for? This is getting into big boy territory here, but if you’re a media guy you can use these models and assets within your productions really easily. Some come pre-rigged so that you can animate, or utilize the models as is for whatever programs you use-blender, maya, etc. You can combine those with envato templates and again, save time. www.turbosquid.com
There are a few other services out there, but these ones are great for value in money and value in design. If you need media assets, consider using these to help make your production more professional.
